E A S Y G IFT IDEA
Breakfast
Is Served
Think outside the
ubiquitous bottle
of wine before you
head out to your
next holiday party.
An instant breakfast
is something
your hostess will
appreciate the
morning after
everyone has said
their good-byes.
Wrap up a bag of
granola, a small jar of
honey, and an instant
coffee pack (we love
Starbucks’ Via Ready
Brew). Tuck it all into
a simple cereal bowl
and tie with a bow

new idea: Ask this

stand in for ye olde
soldier nutcracker.

All Is Bright
Transform plain white paper bags into luminarias for an
inventive centerpiece or to line your sidewalk. We used a large
edger punch to create the scalloped detail on the bags, then
wove ribbon through the openings, securing it with double-
sided tape. Use battery-operated tea lights instead of candles
for longer-lasting and safer illumination.
and a note of thanks.

Pure Style
Home
This month is no
doubt one of the most
stressful of the year.
Take a moment to
slow down with
Lauren Liess’s blog,
purestylehome
.blogspot.com.
Lauren’s approach to
decorating and enter-
taining has a single
theme: simplify. One
idea to try is her take
on brass candlesticks.
“They can be blah on
their own, but when
you group different
sizes of them
together, they look
really beautiful,”
she says. “I like to
modernize them by
putting them inside
hurricanes.” Be sure
to see Lauren’s home
decked out for the
holidays, beginning
on page 66.
